PatchWork Project : Lily's Colors of Life

I love all things crafts and patchwork is one of them. I've taken up patchwork about 10 years ago when my mother showed me her uncompleted flower hexagons, she taught me how to sew it and I've made a few patchwork projects after that.

Lately, I've just completed a project for a friend. I've named this project : Lily's Colors of Life. This is because the colors are bright and vibrant and I think that is how our lifes should be lived!.

It's flower hexagons, the 'petals' are plain cotton materials and the middle is patterned cotton materials. The top and bottom of this is reversed - patterned 'petals' and the middle is plain. I've bought my cotton materials from either Kamdar or Nagoya and some from tailors who have scrap cloth.

The whole project is individually paper pierced and hand sewn. This was how I did my project :-

1. I printed out hexagon shapes from the computer. One A4 piece of paper has about 12 hexagon shapes.

2. I then made copies using recycled paper, of course.

3. Next, I cut out the hexagon shapes and paper pierce them onto my desired materials.

4. Then I hand sew them to make into a flower and the process is repeated until I get my desired size.

5. The next task is to take out ALL the paper templates from the material and sew the backing.

For this project, I've yet to sew the backing and this definitely has to be done with a sewing machine. I'll post an update once this has been done.

Mime YoYo Clown Dolls

Met Aaron and Basil, they are Mime YoYo Clown Dolls. Each and every doll is handmade. Great as gifts for children or adult. We will be posting more YoYo dolls soon, keep checking our blog for updates.

Aaron and Basil look almost the same. To tell the difference, the material on the body part (the three puff balls) is different in pattern.

We Are Back!

After months of being away from crafts - we are finally back! We had to take a breather to welcome a new addition to the family!

Ryan Chong was born on June 14, 2009. Equally excited were 8 years old brother, Timothy and 6 years old sister, Stephanie.
